The coronavirus COVID-19 is up to 20 times more deadly than the flu, with a fatality rate of about 2.3% according to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (in the U.S., seasonal flu's fatality rate is about 0.1%), the Times reported.
Coronavirus has flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath which may appear 2-14 days after exposure.
I am sure many of us gave it a thought on how to prepare for COVID-19.
Besides avoiding being exposed to the virus and everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases such as washing your hands or using a facemask, as advised by the CDC here, there are many holistic and natural options available for strengthening your immune system and some based on the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918.

As a licensed acupuncturist in NYC with 26 years working in small rooms with patients with all sorts of symptoms, I had contracted flu from my patients numerous times. In the past, I have used some of the below mentioned homeopathic (and boiled Chinese herbs) to reduce the chance of or avoid the full-blown flu.
During the Spanish flu pandemic, homeopathic physicians had a mortality rate of 1% while traditional physicians have a mortality rate of 30%.
Traditional medicine now has stronger antibiotics and for those who are interested in natural and alternative treatments, you can try holistic and alternative treatments.
Homeopathic medicines that did well in the Spanish flu pandemic.
Gelsemium on Amazon Get the 9C or 12C if you can. Gelsemium was a primary homeopathic medicine used during Spanish flu. Bryonia was the next one.
Complete Flue Care has many medicines to help you recover from the flu symptoms.
Garlic and ginger tea has antibacterial actions.
Boil ginger as a tea. Garlic, I like soaking in a glass of filtered water for a few hours or best overnight. Mix together garlic water and ginger tea and drink half an hour before meals 2-3 times a day.
