Chinese Medicine can help numerous disorders. Thyroid imbalance is one of them. Some experts believe that as many as 27 to 59 million Americans have a thyroid problem.
About 80% of thyroid disease falls on women and women are five times more likely to develop hypothyroidism (an under-active thyroid) than are men. Close to eight out of ten thyroid disease cases (80%) are hypothyroid conditions with the other two out of ten (20%) being hyperthyroid.
The Risk During and After Pregnancy
Because pregnancy uses so many resources in the body, there is an increase of developing hypothyroidism, with approximately 2% of pregnant women experiencing low functioning thyroid.

Seaweed - Iodine is an essential element that assists the thyroid in producing thyroid hormone. By increasing iodine intake, patients have seen an increase in the production of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The best natural source of iodine is kelp and other seaweeds.
Brazil nuts and walnuts -These nuts contain high amounts of selenium. Many hypothyroid patients have been found to have deficiencies in this trace mineral.
