The fall season in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is associated with the Yin organ Lung and its paired Yang organ Large Intestine.

Lungs in Chinese Medicine are referred to as the "delicate organ" because they are easily affected by the cold or flu.
Fall in NYC
Prepare your body for the Fall

In Addition to Chinese Medicine, we offer Electromedicine Therapy options, which are effective for pain, stress, immune system, Lyme disease, and some holistic cancer therapies. (Read Below)

Lungs in Chinese medicine are referred to as the "delicate organ" because they are easily affected by the cold or flu. The left lung is smaller than the right one because it needs to accommodate the heart.

Prepare Your Immune System
for the Fall using our Services

Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, and Cupping Therapy.

Seasonal selected acupuncture points and Chinese Herbs boost the immune system, regulate the lungs and defensive energy (Wei Chi).

 Chinese Cupping Therapy
Effective for stress, muscles tension and early stages of cold and even flu.

Bioresonance Therapy
Scans your body's electromagnetic energy and balances it to health.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent Reduce your pain and balance your body with specific healing frequencies.

PEMF Therapy  - Charges your body organs and cells with energy for self-healing and pain reduction. Approved by the FDA for pain, brain cancer, migraines etc.

Ozone Therapydeactivates fungus and bacteria, oxygenates the whole body for self-healing. Extensively used in Europe (Germany, Austria, Russian, India and Cuba for cancer and many chronic diseases).
Helps with digestion, skin problems and healing.

Lungs in acupuncture and Chinese medicine control the skin and open into the nose. Weather in New York City is not lungs friendly so we need to dress according to the everchanging climate. If you are poorly dressed, the wind can penetrate through the pores and affect your lungs with cold, fever, runny nose and later cough.

Call us at (212) 533-1192 if you have any questions. Fall is the best time to get your immune system in order for the Winter!

Food for Fall
Due to the air temperature is getting cooler, we all should eat warmer foods like a bit of chicken, meat or fish.

White colored and spicy food is good for the lungs and large intestine.

Ingestion in moderation or cooking with onions or garlic may benefit the lungs and so is eating white fish, or even white wine in moderation.

Emotions

Sadness or grief are the emotions associated with the lungs and large intestine. Acupuncture often releases blocked emotions freeing up the Qi circulation and removing energetic blockages.
Stay warm!
Be well,
Mark & Ginny

Emotions in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are associated with particular Yin Yang organs.

Emotions! Emotions are The Architects of Dis-Ease.

Unfulfilled goals or desires can become strong emotions.

As a licensed acupuncturist running an acupuncture clinic in NYC, I have to deal often with patients who are very frustrated with Western medicine and are very sensitive emotionally.

Emotions are a state of mental reflection of our health.  Emotions are truly the architects of our diseases.

Emotions in Chinese MedicineEmotions need to be balanced, and too much of a certain emotion may lead to an energetic imbalance that will manifest in your health.

At the bottom of this article, I will post some solutions to managing stress and emotional burdens.

Happiness or joy for example in acupuncture relates to the heart, however, people who get too happy ( the once you may see on the NYC subways sometimes) may laugh inappropriately or excessively.

What it means in Chinese Medicine is the heart not housing the spirit, meaning the person's mind is out of balance. The person may talk to him/herself, unable to focus on the conversation or even live in the world of his/her own.

According to the acupuncture theory of 5 elements, each organ not only has its emotion but also a color which I used for early organ.

Joy is the emotion associated with the heart.
(the colors used below represent the color of a particular organ in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.)

Heart and Small Intestine leads to heart palpitations, insomnia, spontaneous sweating, poor memory and concentration, anxiety.

Sadness or grief relates to the lungs in Chinese Medicine. Too much sadness can negatively affect the lungs.

Lung and Large Intestine imbalance may lead to shortness of breath, weak lungs, frequent colds.

Anger and it may be one of the worst long-term feelings is damaging to the Liver and Gallbladder.

Prolonged anger can lead to headaches, insomnia, digestive problems, and even depression. Liver energy imbalanced by anger can invade the Spleen and disrupt the digestive process, giving rise to bloating and indigestion.

The liver element is wood and the heart is fire so too much liver/wood may disturb the heart/fire.

The liver and Gall Bladder imbalance may lead to bloatedness, constipation or diarrhea, poor sleep, stress, high blood pressure, poor vision, and headaches or migraines.

Worry and overthinking belongs to the Spleen and Stomach.
Spleen and stomach are important sources of postnatal energy and health. Spleen and stomach are important for extracting nutrients from food and absorbing it.

Spleen/Stomach imbalance may lead to poor appetite, poor digestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea, nausea

Fear has to do with the Kidneys and Bladder in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Kidneys are one of the most important organs according to Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. Kidneys are the source of prenatal energy (your DNA).

Kidney imbalance may lead to fatigue, poor sleep, dark circles under the eyes, heart palpitations and more.

Best way to deal with overbearing emotions according to Yogic and Chinese Medicine philosophy is to detach yourself from what is happening to you.

View your Life events as an observer NOT a participant.

Activities like Yoga, Meditation, Tai Chi, Pranayama (breathing) or simply quiet time will help you balance your emotions and health.

New York Summer Health with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine - Tree of Life Acupuncture

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine attribute late summer to the organs of Spleen and Stomach.

The stomach is a Yang organ and the Spleen in the Yin organ and both have the Earth element in a Five Element Acupuncture System. What it means is that at this time
our digestive organs have more energy and are more sensitive to digestive changes and foods we eat.

Our digestive system is the main source of postnatal energy.
Good digestion is essential to absorbing nutrients and minerals and supplying us with energy (Qi) for our daily activities.
acupuncture and summer digestive organs

As a licensed acupuncturist in NYC and Chinese Medicine and Bioesonance electromedicine practitioner, I helped many people in my clinic suffering from digestive disorders like bloating, gas, diarrhea or constipation, acid reflux to name a few.

Some patients reduced symptoms and reduced medications and some completely recovered. (results vary).

Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and our range of Bioresonance machines using electromedicine (and homeopathy) may help your digestion, acquire more energy and comfort as well as provide a better quality of Life.

We also offer body detox along with ozone therapy, which can kill parasites, bacteria, fungus in your gut and improve your digestion and energy.

The color for the organs is Yellow, so eating yellow foods in color is beneficial to your digestion.

This season it is good to eat root vegetables like sweet potatoes or regular potatoes. Avoid sugary drinks and too many sweets, drink warm water (not cold) or ginger or mint tea before meals to help digestion.

Acupuncture Health Tips for the Summer

Tree of Life Acupuncture
32 Union Square E #804, New York, New York 10003
  (212) 533-1192

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine associate the heart, yin organ and its paired yang organ, the small intestine, with the season of Summer.

Summer is the hottest season of the year and in New York City it gets humid. The heart is a muscle and it pumps blood and also stores the Spirit (Shen). When the person's eyes are shining, the Chinese Medicine Doctors believe the person's spirit is healthy.

If someone does not sleep well then it is said their spirit is restless. It could be due to too much thinking, life disturbances or just a big city like New York stress.

Conditions like high blood pressure, fatigue,  heart palpitations or tachycardia can be affected by hot summer weather and in acupuncture and Chinese medicine also by kidney and liver imbalance.

As a Chinese Medicine and licensed acupuncturist in of 25 years in NYC, I try to follow the health and longevity tips of ancient acupuncture physicians and scholars.

ACUPUNCTURE POINTS

Acupuncturists usually use points that support the heart this season. Acupuncture points of pericardium or gallbladder or even kidneys are often selected to adjust the body for the summer

acupuncture and Chinese Medicine heart organ

EXERCISES

It is best to exercise less on hot days as the heart has to work harder in the heat and humidity.
If you are exercising outdoors, do so before 12 and after 4 pm when it's less hot and humid

FOOD as MEDICINE

Human bodies are about 70-80% water, so we do not want to get overheated in the summer. Eat less meat, as meat and even chicken have warm properties comparing to fish and vegetables. It would be good to substitute meat for fish or try going vegetarian for the summer.

Or at least eat less meat and more fruits and vegetables and it is much easier to do it in the summer as the body wants to reduce digestive burden.

Red foods are especially beneficial for the heart, so eat tomatoes and watermelon and so on. If you can get your hands on goji berries, those are good raw or boiled as a tea. They supplement and strengthen the heart, kidneys, and blood.

Mint or Chrysanthemum tea has cooling properties and works well for the summer too.

If you are having health symptoms that are coming up during the summer or get worse in the summer, your acupuncturist or Chinese Medicine practitioner may look into the heart meridian or energy-related system.

Enjoy the summer in good health!

Acupuncture health benefits

Tree of Life Acupuncture

I remember using acupuncture on myself being a student in my acupuncture school in New York City at Tri-State College of Acupuncture.

I would open my acupuncture book with acupoint energetic prescriptions and treated myself for stress, headaches, and various medical conditions.

I fixed my heart palpitations with certain acupuncture protocols and to this day maintain several treatments a month depending on the stress or health.
acupuncture for health

Even now when I am a seasoned acupuncturist in NYC with 25 years of experience, I needle myself and greatly appreciate acupuncture health benefits and realize I would pay for the services if did not get them for free.

Acupuncture for Prevention and health maintenance.

Acupuncture balances the flow of energy (Qi) in the internal organs and the muscles.  One of the unique acupuncture properties is that it can restore the energetic balance in the body even if you do not know you have a problem.

Immune System and Acupuncture

Immune System is greatly stimulated and improved by acupuncture. As the body perceives inserted needles as a foreign invasion and therefore activates the immune system producing dopamine and endorphins as well as man other hormones that we do not know yet.

The symbols of Yin Yang represents the balance of positive Yin and negative Yang energies and that is what acupuncture does. Acupuncture treatments reduce accesses and deficiencies.

Seasonal energy and organ balancing with acupuncture

Each season in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine belongs to a particular organ, summer, for example, influences the Heart and the Winter the Kidneys. Doing acupuncture in different seasons can adapt the body for better health.

Acupuncture and Mental Health

Acupuncture and especially ear and scalp acupuncture can influence and balance the brain, reduce depression, anxiety and stress. Acupuncture can increase cognitive process if done on regular basis.

Spiritual Health and acupuncture

There are acupuncture points along chakras, which are concentrated energy centers used in Indian system of healing. When the body is in harmony and health it becomes in harmony with the Universe.

The body is a microcosm and the Universe is the macrocosm. Different body parts have their own acupuncture microcosms that affect the body as in macrocosm vs microcosm.

The ear acupuncture or scalp acupuncture is microcosm comparing to the body which is macrocosm and so on.

My Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Case Study

(212) 533-1192

One day I fell ill with what seemed to be like flu-like symptoms.

As a licensed acupuncturist in NYC and a small business owner in New York's Manhattan dense population with flu outbreaks, I have always managed not to miss a day of work in my acupuncture clinic in the past.

Blood letting Acupuncture in NYC

I was so wiped out with no energy or Qi as Chinese Medicine practitioners would say, I could only go to the bathroom or lay on my couch. I was sick as a dog :(

I do have a lot of sick patients in my acupuncture clinic during the winter and flu outbreaks, but I never miss a day of work using acupuncture Chinese Herbs and Bioresonnace therapy to stay healthy.

This time it was different. I was riding trains a lot that day from Union Square, where my acupuncture practice is to Harlem and might have picked something up from coughing people on the train, It was Winter time. Time of flue and influenza.

I felt like my Lungs were filled with sand and some residue, it was difficult to breathe and even move
Acupuncture by Master Tung in New York

After not getting better for a few days, I finally went to my colleague to do bloodletting from acupuncture points BL13, and BL43. A technique used in Master Tung's acupuncture style.
Sometimes it is called wet cupping.

Those acupuncture points are Lung related.  After just one bloodletting session, I felt a relief and had feeling things would finally get better. And they did. I had the bloodletting procedure done a few more times and my energy went to normal over a 7 day period and after bitter Chinese herbs and acupuncture my coughing stopped and flu went away.

Before that nothing helped and I missed 6 days of work. To this day after the incident, I have not missed a day of work.

Bloodletting is not often practised by many acupuncturists for many reasons, however, in special cases, it produces quick pain and symptomatic relief and even cures, unlike many other therapies.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Dessert Time

According to acupuncture and Chinese Medicine five element theory, each color represents a certain body organ.

berries and acupuncture New York

Look on the streets of big cities like New York City, people are wearing a lot of red. Red in acupuncture represents the heart and its paired yang organ small intestine and the season for it is summer.

So we all know sugar is bad for you and feeds parasites and diseases like cancer cells, so why not try some fruit ideas that are also sweet and packed with vitamins and nutrients good for your health and palate as well.
Red strawberries for the heart and black mulberries for the kidneys dipped in honey and ready to eat.

acupuncture in New York City and dessert
Watermelon is the best dessert for the summer, again red is for the heart and cooling us through the small intestine during hot summer nights.

Pineapple is yellow and sweet and helps digestion working with the spleen and stomach.

So combine the wisdom and acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with good tasting low calories fruit desserts for health and fun.
